Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), a constituent of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has strongly condemned the Indian authorities’ decision to ban the Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir.

Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, through a tweet on Wednesday, declared the Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference led by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference led by Ghulam Nabi Sumhji as unlawful. The Modi regime has already banned the APHC, Jamaat-e-Islami, Muslim League, DFP, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, JKLF and Dukhtaran-e-Millat in the occupied territory.

The DFP spokesman. advocate Arshad Iqbal in a statement issued in Srinagar said that banning of political parties was part of India’s broader campaign to crush the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle.

Terming these actions as a violation of democratic norms and basic human rights, the spokesman said that banning legitimate political voices has become a new normal in Kashmir.

He said that India must realize the fact that it cannot crush the Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle by choking voice of dissent in the occupied territory, adding such mean tactics cannot deter Kashmiris from pursing their noble cause for which they have offered unprecedented sacrifices.
