Pakistan has expressed concerns over the deteriorating health of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik and demanded his immediate release from the illegal Indian detention.
Speaking at the briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson, Asim Iftikhar, called upon the Indian government to refrain from victimizing the true representatives of Kashmiri people by way of inhuman and illegal detentions and implications through sham trials in baseless and fictitious cases.
The Spokesperson once again urged the international community to take cognizance of India’s inhuman and illegal detention and treatment of Yasin Malik and of other Kashmiri political leaders and to ensure that the Kashmiri people can exercise their right to self-determination as promised to them by the UN and the world community.
He said as we prepare to solemnly commemorate Youm-e-Istehsaal on 5th of the next month marking three years of India’s unilateral and illegal actions in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan salutes the indomitable spirit of the people of IIOJK and honors their immense sacrifices.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has issued a strong demarche to India over the rapidly deteriorating health condition of Yasin Malik and has handed over a letter from his wife addressed to the Indian Prime Minister.
The Indian Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad today and the letter from Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Yasin Malik, was handed over to him.
The letter seeks Yasin Malik’s immediate release from prison given his precarious health condition aggravated after he decided to go on a hunger strike earlier this month.
The Indian diplomat conveyed Pakistan’s deep dismay over the Indian authorities’ latest move of implicating Yasin Malik in two more bogus cases crafted around incidents that happened at least three decades ago.
Despite numerous pleas, Yasin Malik, facing life imprisonment in Tihar jail, has been denied his lawful right of personal appearance and cross-examination of the witnesses in the ongoing trials.
