Complete shutdown was observed in Kargil, Ladakh region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the backing of a rape accused by the administration in the region.

Call for the protest was given by Jamiatul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil. As a mark of widespread anger, people closed shops and other business establishments, while transporters parked their vehciles in protest.

President, Jamiat Ulama, Shiekh Nazir Mehdi during a press conference in Kargil demanded a strong action against the accused. He said that the police department should constitute a a body to investigate the case on priority.

Shiekh Nazir further said that they were closely monitoring the case and if they find any leniency, they would be compelled to protest again.

Another leader, Sajjad Kargili said the people of Ladakh are peaceful and they will never tolerate such incidents particularly the crime against women in society.

Sajjad Kargili said, “We strongly condemn the attempt to rape against the woman in Wakha. The culprit must be given severe punishment.”
