Khurram Parvez is an HR activist and the program coordinator of the human rights group the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) in IIOJK. He is also the chairman of the Asian Federation against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD). He was arrested on 22nd Nov 21 in a framed case of ‘terror funding’ from the IIOJ&K during a raid by the Indian Intelligence agency.

He has extensively worked on documenting the abuses committed by Indian security forces as coordinator of JKCCS. Khurram Parvez has been detained because of his efforts to highlight violations of human rights in IIOJK by Indian occupational forces. In 2022, he has been named by Time Magazine in its list of “100 Most Influential People of 2022.” Despite all odds, the resolve of Khurram serves as a beacon of light for the people of Kashmir in their peaceful struggle against India’s state-sponsored terrorism. The international community, particularly the UN, should hold India accountable for the harassment of journalists and rights activists who become the voices of IIOJK.
